If cities or towns plan to access this funding, they are encouraged to register with the Central Contractor Registration registrant database now, through www.grants.gov. Potential applicants need to obtain a DUNS (Data Universal Numbering System) number, which identifies an organization and helps to track the distribution of grant money. The CCR is a central repository of organizations working with the federal government.
