Q: Are certain restrictions or bans automatically triggered when the governor declares a state of emergency?

A:
No. The declaration itself does not affect private enterprise, such as travel or the operation of businesses. A state of emergency declaration may, however, be accompanied by a request by the governor to stay off the roads, release employees early, or stagger arrival at work, in order to promote public safety. In extreme circumstances, the governor may order roads closed to all but emergency traffic, such as occurred during and immediately following the Blizzard of 1978.
