MSA seeks selectmen for 2011 Board of Directors
September 09, 2010The Massachusetts Selectmen's Association, a member group of the MMA, is seeking selectmen for its board of directors. Any selectmen in Massachusetts may complete the online nomination form and submit their name for consideration.
The link to an online nomination form is below. The form must be completed by Oct. 22.
Nominations are being sought for all nine MSA board of director positions. This includes the four officers (president, 1st vice president, 2nd vice president, secretary) and five district representatives. With the exception of the secretary, all MSA Board members also serve on the MMA Board of Directors.
The five MSA districts are as follows:
District 1: Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties
District 2: Essex and Middlesex counties
District 3: Bristol, Norfolk and Suffolk counties
District 4: Barnstable, Dukes, Nantucket and Plymouth counties
District 5: Worcester county
MSA officers serve a one-year term (2011). District representatives serve two-year terms (2011-2012).
Board responsibilities include attendance at both MSA and MMA board meetings. The MSA Board meets four to six times a year, generally on Wednesdays, from 3 to 6 p.m. The MMA Board of Directors meets eight Tuesdays a year, in Boston, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Participation is also expected at regional and statewide meetings for selectmen.
After interviewing all nominees, the Nominating Committee will prepare a single slate of nominations for election during the MSA Annual Business Meeting, to be held during the MMA Annual Meeting & Trade Show on Jan. 22, 2011.
