The Massachusetts Municipal Councillors’ Association, a member group of the MMA, is seeking councillors and/or aldermen for its board of directors. Any councillor and aldermen in Massachusetts may complete the online nomination form and submit his or her name for consideration.
The link to an online nomination form is below. The form must be completed by Oct. 22.
Nominations are being sought for all eight MMCA board of director positions: the three officers (president, 1st vice president, 2nd vice president) and five district representatives.
The five districts are as follows:
District 1: Agawam, Chicopee, Easthampton, Greenfield, Holyoke, North Adams, Northampton, Palmer, Pittsfield, Springfield, West Springfield, Westfield
District 2: Fitchburg, Gardner, Leominster, Marlborough, Southbridge, Worcester
District 3: Amesbury, Beverly, Gloucester, Haverhill, Lawrence, Lowell, Lynn, Methuen, Newburyport, Peabody, Salem, Woburn
District 4: Attleboro, Barnstable, Braintree, Brockton, Fall River, Franklin, New Bedford, Quincy, Randolph, Taunton, Weymouth
District 5: Boston, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Newton, Revere, Somerville, Waltham, Watertown, Winthrop
MMCA officers serve a one-year term (2011). District representatives serve two-year terms (2011-2012).
This year the MMCA is also seeking nominations for the position of MMA vice president. To be eligible, one must simultaneously serve as an MMCA officer or district representative.
Board responsibilities include attendance at both MMCA and MMA board meetings. The MMCA Board meets four to six times per year, on Tuesdays, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The MMA Board of Directors meets eight Tuesdays per year, in Boston, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Participation also includes attendance at regional and statewide meetings for councillors and aldermen.
After interviewing all nominees, the Nominating Committee will prepare a single slate of nominations for election during the MMCA Annual Business Meeting, to be held during the MMA Annual Meeting & Trade Show on Jan. 22, 2011.
