Working in collaboration with Blue Cross Blue Shield, MIIA has developed a new series of health plan offerings for cities and towns than incorporate state-of-the-art quality and savings features.

These new plans are expected to substantially reduce employer health insurance costs while providing high-quality benefits for employees and their families.

A distinguishing feature of the new plans is a tiering of hospitals and physicians based on quality and cost. Employees who select providers from the highest-rated tier will typically have lower health care costs than those that select other providers.

The new plans will also have additional features to control costs, such as disease management.

Details about the new plans will be available at the MIIA booth at the MMA Annual Meeting Jan. 11 and 12.

The new plans will be available on July 1, 2008.
